PART F: COMMON MISTAKES

31) Mistake 1: Using Present Simple for now

Wrong:

  • I work now.

Better:

  • I am working now.

Because “now” usually needs Present Continuous.

32) Mistake 2: Forgetting -s / -es

Wrong:

  • He go to school.

Correct:

  • He goes to school.

In Present Simple, he/she/it needs s/es.

33) Mistake 3: Confusing Past Simple and Present Perfect

  • I finished the work yesterday. ✅
  • I have finished the work. ✅

But:

  • I have finished the work yesterday. ❌

Because yesterday is a finished past time, so use Past Simple.

34) Mistake 4: Using wrong past participle

Wrong:

  • She has went.

Correct:

  • She has gone.

Perfect tense needs past participle, not V2.

35) Mistake 5: Confusing “for” and “since”

  • for two hours = duration
  • since 8 AM = starting point

Examples:

  • I have been waiting for two hours.
  • I have been waiting since 8 AM.

PART G: PRACTICAL SITE / WORK EXAMPLES

36) Construction Examples by Tense

Present Simple

  • The workers start at 8 AM every day.

Present Continuous

  • The workers are installing rebar now.

Present Perfect

  • The team has completed the footing.

Present Perfect Continuous

Past Simple

Past Continuous

  • We were checking the column level when the client arrived.

Past Perfect

Past Perfect Continuous

  • The workers had been waiting for the mixer truck for one hour.

Future Simple

  • We will start slab reinforcement tomorrow.

Future Continuous

  • We will be casting concrete at 10 AM tomorrow.

Future Perfect

  • We will have finished the brickwork by Friday.

Future Perfect Continuous

  • By next month, we will have been working on this house for six months.

PART H: THE BEST WAY TO STUDY THE 12 TENSES

37) 5-Step Learning System

Step 1: Learn the 4 styles first

Do not memorize all 12 separately first.
Understand:

  • Simple
  • Continuous
  • Perfect
  • Perfect Continuous

Step 2: Learn by time

Study in this order:

  • Present 4 tenses
  • Past 4 tenses
  • Future 4 tenses

Step 3: Make your own examples

Use your real life:

  • site
  • workers
  • client
  • materials
  • meeting
  • family
  • daily routine

This helps memory.

Step 4: Practice with time markers

Examples:

  • every day
  • now
  • yesterday
  • since morning
  • tomorrow
  • by Friday

Time words help you choose tense faster.

Step 5: Speak aloud

Do not only read.
Say sentences aloud:

  • I check the site every morning.
  • I am checking the site now.
  • I have checked the site already.

This trains your mouth and brain together.
