To show a Milestone in Microsoft Project
1. Create a Milestone Task
A milestone is a task with:
0 duration
shown as a diamond symbol (♦) in Gantt Chart
Steps
Open your schedule
Go to Gantt Chart View
Add a new task
Type milestone name:
Example:
Site Handover
Concrete Complete
Project Finish
In Duration column type:
0d
Microsoft Project automatically changes it into a milestone.
2. Convert Existing Task to Milestone
Method A — Duration = 0d
Change task duration to:
0d
Method B — Task Information
Double-click task
Go to Advanced
Check:
Mark task as milestone
Press OK
3. Show Milestones in Timeline
If milestone not showing in Timeline:
Steps
Right-click the task
Select:
Add to Timeline
OR
Select milestone task
Go to:
Task → Add to Timeline
Now milestone appears at top Timeline.
4. Show Only Milestones
Very useful for presentations.
Steps
Go to:
View → Filter
Choose:
Milestones
Now only milestone tasks appear.

To make milestones bigger or colorful:

Format → Bar Styles
