i-01.00- Set up Google Authenticator step by step so you can add 2FA protection

Absolutely, Sarim! Let’s walk through how to set up Google Authenticator step by step so you can add 2FA protection to your Schwab account (or any other important account). I’ll explain in English and can also provide in Khmer if you want later.

Step-by-Step: Set Up Google Authenticator

🔧 What You Need:

  • A smartphone (Android or iPhone)

  • Your Schwab login details

  • Internet connection

Step 1: Download Google Authenticator App

For Android:

  1. Open the Google Play Store

  2. Search for: Google Authenticator

  3. Tap Install

For iPhone:

  1. Open the App Store

  2. Search for: Google Authenticator

  3. Tap Get and Install

🔒 Tip: The app icon is a gray lock with a dial.

Step 2: Log in to Your Schwab Account

  1. Go to: https://www.schwab.com

  2. Log in using your username and password

  3. Go to your Security Settings or Profile Settings

  4. Look for something like:
    “Two-Step Verification” or “Two-Factor Authentication”

  5. Choose:
    ✔️ Use an authenticator app

Step 3: Scan the QR Code

  1. Schwab will show you a QR code

  2. Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone

  3. Tap “+” → then choose “Scan a QR code”

  4. Point your phone’s camera at the screen (QR code)

  5. It will automatically add your Schwab account to the app

Step 4: Enter the Code to Verify

  1. You will now see a 6-digit code in the Google Authenticator app

  2. Go back to Schwab’s screen

  3. Enter that 6-digit code into the box

  4. Click Verify or Submit

🎉 Done! You’ve now set up 2FA with Google Authenticator for your Schwab account.

Every time you log in now:

  • Schwab will ask you for a 6-digit code

  • Open your Authenticator app

  • Type the code before it expires (code changes every 30 seconds)
