what are QS and QC in the construction?

In construction, QS and QC are two different roles related to ensuring the project is successful, but they focus on different aspects:

1. QS (Quantity Surveyor)

   - Focus: Cost and financial management.

   - Responsibilities:

     - Preparing cost estimates and budgets.

     - Measuring quantities from drawings and plans.

     - Managing contracts and procurement.

     - Monitoring project costs to keep within the budget.

     - Preparing bills of quantities (BOQs).

     - Managing claims and variations.

     - Advising on cost control and value engineering.

2. QC (Quality Control)

   - Focus: Ensuring the quality of work and materials.

   - Responsibilities:

     - Inspecting construction work to meet specified standards.

     - Ensuring materials comply with project specifications.

     - Testing and verifying workmanship quality.

     - Preparing and maintaining quality assurance documentation.

     - Conducting audits and resolving non-conformance issues.

     - Reporting quality performance to management.

While a QS manages costs and contracts, a QC ensures that the construction meets the required standards and specifications. Both are critical to the success of a project.

Translation:

1.The phrase "to ensuring" typically refers to the act of making certain that something happens or is the case. It involves taking steps or measures to guarantee a specific outcome or condition.

For example:

  • "To ensuring the success of the project" means taking actions to make sure the project is successful.

In this context, "ensuring" is the gerund form of the verb "ensure," which means to make sure or to guarantee.

      2. The word “aspects” means the different parts, features, or sides of something. It can refer to a way of looking at something, or specific characteristics of a subject or situation.

For example:

“We need to consider all aspects of the project.”

(Here, “aspects” refers to different parts of the project, such as budget, timeline, and resources.)

Noted: In Khmer, “aspects” means “ទិសដៅ” or “លក្ខណៈសំខាន់ៗ”, depending on the context.

For example:

“We need to consider all aspects of the project.”

“យើងត្រូវពិចារណាពីទិសដៅឬលក្ខណៈសំខាន់ៗទាំងអស់របស់គម្រោង។”
