Robot → MIDAS Design (RC Beam) — Required Data Checklist

ACI 318M-19 Robot → MIDAS RC Beam ULS / SLS
1) Geometry & Section Data (ទំហំ + ប្រវែង + cover)
  • Beam section: b × h (ឧ. 200×450)
  • Effective depth d ឬ cover + bar dia + stirrup dia
  • Span / member length
  • Support condition: simple / continuous / cantilever
  • Slab participation (T-beam): flange width, slab thickness
Tip: MIDAS អាចគណនា d បានដោយស្វ័យប្រវត្តិ បើ cover និង bar dia ត្រឹមត្រូវ
2) Material & Code Setup (សម្ភារៈ + កូដ)
  • Design code: ACI 318M-19 (Metric)
  • Concrete strength f’c (MPa)
  • Steel fy (MPa) – main bar & stirrup
  • Es (optional, MIDAS default)
  • φ factors (auto by code)
  • Exposure / cover rule (if used)
3) Design Forces from Robot (ចំណុចសំខាន់បំផុត)

A) Load combinations

  • ULS combos (Strength design)
  • SLS combos (Deflection / crack check)

B) Member internal forces

  • Mu – Bending moment (usually M3)
  • Vu – Shear force (V2 / V3 depends axis)
  • Tu – Torsion (if any)
  • N – Axial force (rare but possible)
✅ Always take Envelope (Max / Min) values:
  • Mu+ / Mu−
  • Vu max
  • T max (if torsion)

C) Station locations

  • Support face
  • d from face of support (shear critical)
  • Midspan
  • Cantilever: fixed end + near face
4) Rebar Detailing Inputs (MIDAS requires)
  • Bar sizes (D10, D12, D16, …)
  • Number of layers allowed (1–2)
  • Min clear spacing rules (optional)
  • Stirrup type (2 legs / 4 legs) + size
  • Rebar cover (top / bottom / side)
  • Development length / hook type
5) Boundary & Modeling Consistency Check (សំខាន់!)
  • Local axis direction (M3 / V2 / V3) must match
  • End releases (pinned / fixed) same as Robot
  • Self-weight ON / OFF consistent
  • Cracked section modifiers (for SLS)
⚠️ 80% of wrong MIDAS results come from wrong axis (M2 vs M3)
