Course Description 

This course examines the process of leadership, delineating the leader’s responsibility within that process. From historical to current leadership theories, leadership principles and theoretical concepts are addressed. Focus is on “real world” and present day application and the implications to organizations and to leaders. This course examines the development of leadership theories and approaches and their role in organizations today. This course also examines the differences between management and leadership and why those differences are important to the health of organizations. It provides an opportunity for practitioners and students to focus on leadership in the information professions from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The course employs theoretical concepts and models, coupled with case studies based on the experiences of leaders within the profession to understand how to develop leadership potential in oneself and others. 

Assessment

​                    - Class Participation:

o   8 times absence without permission  = Incomplete

o   10 times absence with permission     = Incomplete

                    - State Examination: 100%

Dr. Sok Seang has been a full-time lecturer and served as director of English Department at the National University of Management since 1998. He teaches Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Business English. His doctoral thesis is “Success Factors of Cambodian SMEs.” He has supervised bachelor, master, and doctoral students in the area of management. He has published three working papers in NUM Research Series in Cambodia, and one CAS Discussion paper at Center for ASEAN Studies of Antwerp University in Belgium. He was an advisory board member of JICA Project for Strengthening of SME Support System for the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft. He is a guest speaker on entrepreneurship on TV (CTN/CNC), radio, and also for NGOs and universities. His family owns a silver business “Thida Silver Shop.”
