Brick and Mortar

L x W x H. Choose or set custom below.
Typical 8 to 12 mm.
Add for breakage and cuts.
Typical 25 to 35 for brick masonry.
Format 1:4, 1:5, 1:6 etc.

How this calculator works
  • Net wall area = length × height − openings area.
  • Wall volume = net wall area × wall thickness.
  • Bricks per m³ = 1 ÷ [(L + joint) × (W + joint) × (H + joint)] using meters.
  • Bricks needed = bricks per m³ × wall volume. Wastage added at the end.
  • Mortar wet volume ≈ percent of brickwork volume. Dry volume factor typically 1.33.
  • Cement volume = dry volume × cement parts ÷ total parts. Sand is the remainder.
  • Cement bags = cement volume ÷ bag volume.

These are estimates. Patterns, bonding, workmanship, and site conditions can change the actual quantities.
